Valentine's Day Multi-Author GIVEAWAY

Welcome to the worlds of Nancy Lee Badger, Donna Steele, and Elena Dillon! Each author is giving away a fabulous prize in honor of VALENTINE'S DAY!

Yes, that means you have

THREE CHANCES TO WIN!

Donna Steele's latest release is The Melting, Book 3 - Cohesion , a sci-fi/paranormal romance. Donna shares her best memories of Valentine's Day - 'hat I remember most about Valentine’s Day growing up was, of course, the candy and the cards. Daddy never forgot to lavish us that day, because it was his birthday. Yep, on his birthday he always had to give away gifts. I thought that was a little unfair, but not enough not to get the candy.

He arrived a 2 a.m. that morning in 1923 and Grandmother – who was like no other grandmother – called him one year (I think when he turned 50) at 2 a.m. as pay back for waking her that morning long ago. She always was the feisty one.

Momma always got the very fancy fold down cards that made a lovely romantic scene and chocolate covered Brazil nuts. Sis and I got the smaller heart shaped boxes and Sis gave me anything that had nuts in it because she didn’t like those. But I did get more candy that way. We’d have a special dinner to celebrate (okay it wasn’t romantic for them, but I wasn’t thinking in those terms).  One year we even had a coconut cake with the candy hearts on top as decoration along with the candles to be blown out.

Sis and I would look for Valentine/Birthday cards as we got older. There were usually two different ones put out by Hallmark, never a very wide selection. He’d get both of them and pretend to complain that he was being cheated out of either a Valentine or a Birthday card each year.

I still celebrate his birthday, taking cards and candy into work and leaving them for everyone in the suite. Happy ValenBirthtine Day everyone!

Elena Dillon writes- I really love Valentine’s Day. I love hearts, flowers, and celebrating love.  Now you might not think that’s true because my stories aren’t exactly all about romance. I put my teenage characters in mortal peril. Like a lot. They are chased by stalkers, serial killers and mob murderers. This is no hearts and flowers, does he like me or doesn’t he romance. My characters are usually too busy running for their lives.

I do, however love a happy and romantic ending so I guess that’s where the romance comes in.  I love bad boys that aren’t so bad, heroes that will sacrifice anything for the love of their lives and edge of your seat endings where you hope no one dies so they can live happily ever after.
So I was really excited when Nancy Lee and Donna asked me to be part of the Valentine’s Giveaway.  I’m giving away the first three books my Breathe series each in a different format.
The Breathe series centers around the Rourke family but each story has a different set of main
characters.

Here are the blurbs:
Gone: The Breathe Prequel
Trane Braxton lives a double life. He can't risk getting close to anyone until Daisy Rourke , his longtime crush, insinuates herself into his very dangerous world.

A short story that goes back to the beginning, to the events that started the Rourkes on their journey…

Breathe
Jasmine’s life wasn’t normal for a 16 year old girl.  It hadn’t been normal since the murder of her older sister, Daisy, two years ago. Her life had been changed forever. The monster that murdered Daisy was never caught.  That was the reason her family decided to move away from their hometown in Southern California, to start over.  Hopefully in a place where the last name Rourke wouldn’t bring on staring or judgment or morbid curiosity.

In Lafayette, Louisiana things are quite a bit different but in a good way.  Good manners, Cajun accents, and a whole lot of Southern Hospitality all make her think things are going in the right direction.  On top of that the most gorgeous boy she has ever met is interested in her. Her new friends are better than she could have hoped for, even if she is worried about what they might think when they find out who she is.  Life would be perfect if odd things didn’t keep happening.  Creepy phone calls, texts, and flowers in her locker start adding up quickly to something terrifying. Could the Monster have followed them to Lafayette? Was he coming after her this time?  Maybe she was just worrying unnecessarily…or not.

Shimmer
Chandler Raines and her “dad” are on the run. Never staying in one place for very long. It’s just not safe.  When they arrive in Lafayette, Louisiana, Chandler quickly realizes this is the place she wants to call home. Friends, a cute boy, and competitive cheerleading have her taking dangerous risks to have the life she always wanted. Risks she promised she wouldn’t take.

When her lies catch up to her, a decision has to be made. Stay or run? Will the evil that’s chased them for the last four years catch up to them? When Chandler’s past comes screeching into the present she’ll have to sacrifice everything to keep what she loves safe. But will it be enough?

RWA Conference 2013 in Atlanta was a BLAST!

Marriot Marquis, Atlanta, Georgia
I have been so wrapped up in my volunteer work (as blog co-chair for the Fantasy-Futuristic & Paranormal Romance Writers), interviewing authors for my own blog, and promoting my latest release My Reluctant Highlander, I nearly forgot to share some photos from this year's Romance Writers of America annual conference.

Me and author Donna Steele

Nora Roberts signing books
The conference was held in Atlanta, Georgia this year which was fairly close to home (6+ hour drive). Next year it will be held in San Antonio, Texas. Anyway, the hotel was magnificent. The Marriot Marquis was huge but cozy in places, such as the restaurants, the coffee shop, and the meeting rooms. The guest rooms were functional, and my roommate, author Donna Steele, fit all our stuff and clothes.

Margaret Mallory sat across from me!

Meetings in the bar area were fun, and the food was fabulous. The workshops--too many to choose from!--kept us busy. Book signings held by various publishers, and notables such as Nora Roberts, were well attended and the Indie publishing signing was an eye opener. Someday, I will join them (now that I have figured out the mystique surrounding making covers to upload to Createspace)

Author Elena Dillon & me

Lunch and awards ceremonies were fun, especially when you sat down at tables for twelve. Meeting new people, networking, swapping business cards, and asking others "What do you write?" were worth the trip.  The workshops spanned every topic imaginable and I heard the majority of the workshop presenters were excited and happy to share their brilliant ideas.

Saturday night Golden Heart and RITA Awards was awesome! We clapped for our friends even when they did not win, and we took photos to share with you and others My aunt is thrilled one of her favorite authors, Laura Griffin, won a RITA award.

This chance to meet up with friends, fellow authors, faceless-until-now online chaptermates is life-altering for people like us. Writers tend to spend too many lonely hours in front of their computer, writing about life instead of living.
The RWA Conference got me out of the house (and gave my hubby a little time alone) and made me realize there is more in my future than the 10 books I have published to date. Making friends and networking with others can only help when I release my next book.

The bar was wonderful and a great place to meet up after a brutal day of workshops. Plus, my hands were awfully pained from carrying totes full of free books back to my room! I will be giving away dozens of autographed books over the course of the next few months, so make sure you sign up (*see below)

Nancy Lee Badger Interviews Elena Dillon

author Elena Dillon
Today I’m interviewing Elena Dillon. Her book Breathe is a YA Romantic Suspense and was released on December 14, 2012.

Please tell my readers a little bit about your book.
It is a story about a teenage girl who has to restart her life after the murder of her older sister by a serial killer.  Her and her family go about this in a new place quite different from what she is used to.  Of course she meets a hot boy and falls in love but while all this is going on some pretty creepy things start happening and she has to wonder if the killer might be after her now.
When did you first consider yourself a writer and when did you start writing toward publication?
I’ve been writing since I was very young but I think I’ve only recently considered myself a “writer”.  It never even occurred to me to publish.  I was afraid to even show anyone anything I had written.   last year I let a friend read part of the book and I was hooked!
How did you get into romance writing?
I’m sorry I wasn’t aware that there was any other kind? Lol. What’s a story without romance? ;)
I am with you! Do you see writing as a career?
Well now that I’m doing it, it feels more like a necessity.  I’m not sure I could stop now if I wanted to.
Share three fun facts about you that most people don’t know.
1. My mother’s maiden name and my married name are the same. (I did NOT marry a relative. I checked)

2. I am deathly allergic to peanuts. (My husband does not understand how I got through childhood without peanut butter and jelly)

3. I have hosted three exchange students from Brazil and the Cayman Islands for 1 year to 2 ½ years. I highly recommend it.  It is a fabulous experience. I have children everywhere!
You and I met last fall at a writer's conference. Are you a member of any writing organizations and, if so, have they helped?
I am a member or Romance Writers of America and a local chapter of the same organization.  It is really amazing. I have met so many helpful, wonderful people in RWA. Like Nancy who is so sweet as to host me here! They have great educational programs and I love the conferences they put on.  I can’t wait to attend the National Conference in Atlanta this summer!
I will see you there! Tell us more about Breathe (a book I recently finished and enjoyed.)

About the Author

Elena lives and writes in a suburb North of Los Angeles.  She has never lived anywhere besides California which is probably a good thing since she hates being cold and is terrified to drive in the snow. She loves being a wife and a mother to her three kids and three dogs, although really the bulldog is the fourth child who has never matured beyond the toddler stage.
A self proclaimed nerd, she has been writing since she was a child. She has only recently, however, come out of the closet about this to her family and friends.  They now understand better, but not completely, why she talks about characters in stories as if they are real people.

Thanks for joining me, today. How can my readers buy your book?
