Book Blurb
After being struck by lightning while jogging, Clara’s dreams cause her to question the issues of DNA changes, cloning, and genetically modifying food. In her dreams she visits an environmentally perfect world where an angel-like being tells her to watch for a sign. While Clara searches for answers, her boyfriend, Brian, becomes active in demonstrations against a local biophysics company, named aptly, New Nature. Clara convinces her Science Club to begin a project to confront this company to make them more accountable. She and John, a new friend, vow to do their part, using peaceful strategies. Brian’s jealousy results in several uncomfortable incidents between the three teens. Things go awry when a few of the Science Club members go beyond simple investigation by breaking into the company, then later sabotaging the company’s biosphere. What’s even more troublesome is the fact that Clara suspects her ex may be the one behind the crimes. Relationships and beliefs are tested as Clara searches out the truth. In the end, her questions are answered, but at a cost, she hadn’t anticipated.

Excerpt from THE HIDDEN TRUTH
Brian jumped in and turned the key. The ignition ground, but started. As soon as Doug left, Melanie scrambled into the passenger side and said, “Let’s go. Doug can find his own way back. We don’t need him anymore.”
“No, we’re not leaving him. He’s the one who got us in there like you wanted.”
“Me? What happened to ‘We’ve got to do something about this company’? You were just as much in favor of this. You’ve gotten soft because you’re afraid Clara will find out,” said Melanie.
“You’re wrong. I was hoping we could find something, so we could get it out to the public.”
“Oh, right. Then Clara would look at you again with those adoring eyes.” Melanie grunted. Brian leaned back against the headrest, waiting. She was right.
Doug’s image materialized in the rearview mirror. He was running toward the car, arms waving. Twenty feet behind him, two other figures sprinted their way. “Open the back door,” Brian yelled at Melanie. She leaned over the front seat and pushed the door open just as Doug reached the car.
Brian put the car in gear with his foot on the brake, ready to take off. Doug fell in, slammed the door behind him and Brian tromped on the gas. Tires squealed and a faint smell of burnt rubber entered the car’s open window. One of the guards grabbed at the door handle but had to relinquish the chase as the car sped away. Please God, don’t let them see the license number or shoot.
“Good thing I covered the license plate with foil,” said Melanie.
Brian just stared ahead, saying a thank you prayer. Melanie watched behind. “No one’s following. You can slow down.”
They drove several more blocks and Brian asked, “Did you get the power inverter?”
“No. When I went inside, I heard the guards coming and I had to make a run for it,” said Doug.

More About Janeen Swart
After marrying in the beginning of my junior year of college, I still hadn’t decided on a major, mostly because I hadn’t really planned this stage of my life really well. My husband suggested teaching, something I had never thought I wanted to do, but as I got into the education classes, it became another love; the first being my friend and life-partner. I taught  third grade for twenty-five years. While teaching and reading many children’s books, there was always  that little voice that said, maybe I could write books as good as these. But of course, life moves on and there was never enough time in a day with a full time job, being secretary for our business, two busy boys to care for, and various animals, too.

After retiring from teaching at age fifty-five, it was time to move forward with my dream of writing. I took two online courses from The Institute of Children’s Literature and a Children’s Writing Course through Indiana University Northwest. Now I thought I was ready and would soon see my stories in print. After many rejection letters, A DOG AND HIS BOY, was published through a small Christian publisher. I self-published my other five children’s books using Create Space and they are all available on Amazon. During this same time I had joined an online critique group and through that group, my young adult novel, THE HIDDEN TRUTH, became a reality. I submitted it to Soul Mate Publishers and was ecstatic when I received my contract to publish it as an e-book. My experience with the Soul Mate authors has been awesome. Connect with me here:

Nancy Lee Badger Interviews Elena Dillon

author Elena Dillon
Today I’m interviewing Elena Dillon. Her book Breathe is a YA Romantic Suspense and was released on December 14, 2012.

Please tell my readers a little bit about your book.
It is a story about a teenage girl who has to restart her life after the murder of her older sister by a serial killer.  Her and her family go about this in a new place quite different from what she is used to.  Of course she meets a hot boy and falls in love but while all this is going on some pretty creepy things start happening and she has to wonder if the killer might be after her now.
When did you first consider yourself a writer and when did you start writing toward publication?
I’ve been writing since I was very young but I think I’ve only recently considered myself a “writer”.  It never even occurred to me to publish.  I was afraid to even show anyone anything I had written.   last year I let a friend read part of the book and I was hooked!
How did you get into romance writing?
I’m sorry I wasn’t aware that there was any other kind? Lol. What’s a story without romance? ;)
I am with you! Do you see writing as a career?
Well now that I’m doing it, it feels more like a necessity.  I’m not sure I could stop now if I wanted to.
Share three fun facts about you that most people don’t know.
1. My mother’s maiden name and my married name are the same. (I did NOT marry a relative. I checked)

2. I am deathly allergic to peanuts. (My husband does not understand how I got through childhood without peanut butter and jelly)

3. I have hosted three exchange students from Brazil and the Cayman Islands for 1 year to 2 ½ years. I highly recommend it.  It is a fabulous experience. I have children everywhere!
You and I met last fall at a writer's conference. Are you a member of any writing organizations and, if so, have they helped?
I am a member or Romance Writers of America and a local chapter of the same organization.  It is really amazing. I have met so many helpful, wonderful people in RWA. Like Nancy who is so sweet as to host me here! They have great educational programs and I love the conferences they put on.  I can’t wait to attend the National Conference in Atlanta this summer!
I will see you there! Tell us more about Breathe (a book I recently finished and enjoyed.)

Book Blurb
Jasmine’s life wasn’t normal for a 16 year old girl.  It hadn’t been normal since the murder of her older sister, Daisy, two years ago. Her life had been changed forever. The monster that
murdered Daisy was never caught.  That was the reason her family decided to move away from their hometown in Southern California, to start over.  Hopefully in a place where the 1last name Rourke wouldn’t bring on staring or judgment or morbid curiosity.

In Lafayette, Louisiana things are quite a bit different but in a good way.  Good manners, Cajun accents and a whole lot of Southern Hospitality all make her think things are going in the right direction.  On top of that the most gorgeous boy she has ever met is interested in her. Her new friends are better than she could have hoped for even if she is worried about what they might think when they find out who she is.  Life would be perfect if odd things didn’t keep happening.  Creepy phone calls, texts, and flowers in her locker start adding up quickly to something terrifying. Could the Monster have followed them to Lafayette? Was he coming after her this time?  Maybe she was just worrying unnecessarily…or not.

About the Author

Elena lives and writes in a suburb North of Los Angeles.  She has never lived anywhere besides California which is probably a good thing since she hates being cold and is terrified to drive in the snow. She loves being a wife and a mother to her three kids and three dogs, although really the bulldog is the fourth child who has never matured beyond the toddler stage.
A self proclaimed nerd, she has been writing since she was a child. She has only recently, however, come out of the closet about this to her family and friends.  They now understand better, but not completely, why she talks about characters in stories as if they are real people.

Thanks for joining me, today. How can my readers buy your book?
